Annabelle

I wake up with a startling feeling. For a minute, I freak out not knowing where the hell I am, but it quickly comes back to me. And when it does, I start to smile widely. I sink into the cozy sheets and blankets surrounding me as everything from the night before begins to filter back into my sleepy brain. I feel a soreness between my legs but knowing why I’m feeling that way makes it worth it.

I know plenty of girls who always imagined how their first time would be. But most of those girls actually ended up losing their virginity in backseats and in spare bedrooms at parties to totally lame guys, and all had a pretty terrible time. I never did imagine how I’d lose mine, but I know now there’s no way I could top last night. Maybe it’s that Rowan is so gorgeous, and so much older, and maybe even a little dangerous with the tattoos and the darkness in his eyes. After all, when you boil it down, he’s really just a stranger to me.

I tremble as I think about the way he touched me and made me scream in pleasure. I effectively lost my virginity to a stranger last night, but I know it wasn’t anything like the girls I know who lost it at parties to frat boys or rich assholes. But even if I don’t really know Rowan, I know last night was a far, far cry from the bad times those girls had with losing their v-cards to one-night stands. Even besides the fact that my first-time having sex felt amazing, I know there’s something deeper with Rowan.

I simmer in my morning after glow before I start to wake a little more and realize I’m alone. I turn quickly and frown when I see the big king-sized bed is empty besides me. My face falls, and I sit up with a worried feeling in my stomach. But suddenly, the bedroom door opens, and Rowan walks in. My face lights up when I see him, and when my eyes drop to the two steaming mugs he’s holding, I groan.

“Is that coffee?”

“Hell yeah,” he says with a quiet laugh. He’s just in jeans, and I blush as my eyes sweep over the hard, tattooed muscles of his torso rippling as he walks over to the bed. “Sorry. Didn’t want you to wake up alone.”

“It’s okay,” I whisper. I know I’m blushing like a schoolgirl, and I feel like a total geek until he leans in and kisses me deeply.

“I’m usually up pretty early,” he shrugs. “Blame the Marines I guess.”

“You were a Marine?”

“Well, you’re always a Marine,” he says with a grin. “But yeah. Five tours across Afghanistan and Iraq.” My hand finds his, and our fingers lace. He hands me the coffee, and I take it with my free hand, bringing it to my lips and sighing happily as the scent hits my nose.

“That must have been really hard,” I squeeze his hand, but he just shrugs.
